# Open Data for North Cyprus Travel: The Kipra Insights Hub — 15 Datasets, CC-BY-4.0, Download Anytime

> Kipra Rent A Car has published 15 CC-BY-4.0 licensed datasets on North Cyprus — rental prices, tourism arrivals, border crossings, hotel capacity, climate, safety, beaches and more. Every Insights post ships the raw CSV plus schema.org/Dataset markup, free to download, cite, and reuse with attribution. We believe it's a first in the car rental industry.

The car rental industry runs on opaque pricing. Aggregator quotes hide CDW upgrades, kiosk insurance, dropoff fees, and "from" prices that are rarely the price you actually pay. Even basic market context — what it costs to rent a car in North Cyprus, when demand peaks, how much crossing the border adds — is something readers usually have to triangulate from a dozen forum threads.

We just published the data directly.

[kiprarent.com](/en/) hosts the **[North Cyprus Data Hub](/en/blog/tag/insights/)** — now **15 CC-BY-4.0 licensed datasets** covering rental economics, tourism and connectivity, the cost of living, climate, and the places-safety-society picture across the north. It launched with five datasets; it has grown to fifteen, and it keeps growing. Each Insights post ships:

- The full analytical writeup with charts
- The raw underlying data as a `.csv`, downloadable in one click
- `schema.org/Dataset` JSON-LD markup so Google Dataset Search, data aggregators, and citation tools (Zotero, Mendeley) can index the data automatically
- Methodology + source notes inside the CSV — everything is dated

To our knowledge this is **the first open data hub in the car rental industry.** If you find an earlier example, [tell us](mailto:info@kiprarent.com) and we'll happily link it.

## What's in the hub today

Fifteen datasets, each with a companion post that explains the methodology and shows the chart-form result. Grouped by theme:

### Rental economics

15. **[100,000 International Students](/en/blog/north-cyprus-international-student-population/)** — the university-driven travel segment most tourism analyses miss. [CSV ↓](/data/insights/north-cyprus-international-student-population.csv)

Refresh cadence: **quarterly.** Each CSV carries its data-as-of date and a methodology block. When official numbers move, we update the post and bump the dataset — the tourism, hotel, and border-crossing series were refreshed with **official Q1 2026 figures** in June 2026.

## What "open data" means here, technically

Three things make this real open data rather than a marketing flourish:

**Each Insights post emits `schema.org/Dataset` JSON-LD.** Right-click any Insights post → "View page source" → search for `"@type":"Dataset"`. You'll see a structured-data block with the dataset name, the canonical post URL, a `DataDownload` entry pointing to the CSV, the CC-BY-4.0 license URI, and the publish/modified timestamps. This is what Google Dataset Search and data-aggregator crawlers consume. The same markup lets citation managers (Zotero, Mendeley) index the dataset alongside its analysis.

**The CSVs ship with a notes block.** Each file ends with a `# Notes` section listing source URLs, derivation methodology where applicable, and the explicit license line:

> License: CC-BY-4.0. Free to reuse with attribution to "Kipra Rent A Car / kiprarent.com".

You don't need permission. You don't need an account. You don't need to scrape. You click, you get the file, you cite the source.

**CORS is wide open on the data path.** The `/data/insights/*.csv` URLs are served with `Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *`, so you can load a CSV directly into a JavaScript notebook (Observable, D3) or pull it into a Pandas or R script without a proxy.

## Why this matters

Three concrete things change when an industry stops hiding its numbers:

**For travellers planning a trip.** You can compare a quoted price against the published tier table, see what we charge for 7 days vs 30 days, and plot Ercan demand against your travel dates to judge whether early booking is necessary. You don't have to take any marketing claim on faith — the data is the proof.

**For bloggers, journalists, and travel media.** When you write about North Cyprus, you can use real, sourced figures with proper attribution instead of vague "starting from €X" placeholders. Every dataset includes source links so you can verify each number yourself.

**For researchers and students.** The arrivals, border-crossing, hotel-occupancy and Ercan series are useful inputs for tourism economics, mobility studies, or border-region commerce research. Drop the CSV into Pandas, R, or Excel and go.

## The same pattern across everything we publish

Every assertion ships with a verification path the reader can run independently — the [multi-currency rates](/en/blog/multi-currency-pricing-launch/) (ECB source, public endpoint), our **436 Google reviews** (5.0★ average, click to verify), the [Lighthouse 100/100 score](/en/blog/lighthouse-100-perfect-score-car-rental-first/) (run PageSpeed Insights yourself), and this hub (download the CSVs and check the math). That's not a coincidence — it's the operating principle. Kipra Rent A Car's commitment is to transparency, simplicity, and the easiest, most comfortable rental experience on the island. Open data is one piece of that.

## How to use the hub

Browse the [North Cyprus Data Hub](/en/blog/tag/insights/) directly, or jump to any single dataset via the list above.

If you publish anything using our data — an article, a chart, a thesis chapter, an Observable notebook — we'd love to see it. Attribution to "Kipra Rent A Car / kiprarent.com" is enough; a link back is appreciated but not required.

If you spot a number that looks wrong, [tell us](mailto:info@kiprarent.com). We'll either correct it in the next quarterly refresh or explain the source if it's actually right. Either outcome is fine — the only failure mode we want to avoid is silently published data that nobody can challenge.

Filter the blog by [Insights](/en/blog/tag/insights/) to land on the hub, or browse the [full fleet](/en/) directly.
