Why rent a car from a local Famagusta company?
International chains quote from a call centre that has never driven these roads. A local Famagusta team knows where to park near the walled city without a ticket, which route to Long Beach is quickest, and which roads out to Bafra are smooth versus broken. That local knowledge is the difference between a rental and a head start on your trip.
It also shows up in the price. With no middlemen and no booking-platform fees, Kipra car hire in Famagusta comes with VAT and insurance already included — what you see on the booking form is what you pay, in whichever of four currencies you prefer.
What's included when you rent a car in Famagusta?
Every displayed price already includes VAT and third-party insurance — there are no hidden counter fees. Mileage is unlimited, so you are never charged for the kilometres you drive, and fuel is same-to-same: bring the car back at the level you picked it up and there is no fuel charge. Returning it dusty from a beach run is fine too, as long as there is no damage.
The whole fleet is automatic with air conditioning, which makes left-side driving in North Cyprus far easier if you are used to driving on the right. Optional extras such as full Casco cover, a child seat or portable Wi-Fi can be added on the booking form when you want them.
Free delivery across Famagusta, Long Beach and İskele
Rental clients get free handover anywhere in Famagusta, plus the Long Beach area of İskele where many visitors stay. We can meet you at your hotel or apartment — just tell us where on the booking form. Free pickup also covers the Derinya (Deryneia) crossing and the Famagusta (Strovilia) crossing for travellers arriving over the border on foot.
Arriving by air instead? Ercan Airport handover is €39 per direction and a Larnaca Airport meet-and-transfer is €85 per direction — both quoted as current fees on the booking form.
Arriving from the south of Cyprus?
If you fly into Larnaca or are touring the south, here is the rule that catches people out: a car rented in the south is insured only up to the Green Line, and a Kipra car rented in the north cannot cross into the south under any circumstance — coverage and regulation both stop at the border, in either direction.
The fix is simple and it is our most popular arrival route: you cross the Derinya or Famagusta crossing on foot, and your north-side rental — fully insured, no border kiosk, no surprise top-up — is waiting for you on the other side. No uncovered-damage grey zone, no extra payment at the line.
What you need to rent
A valid driving licence (foreign licences are accepted) and your passport or ID are enough to rent in Famagusta. There is no deposit and no credit-card requirement; you can pay by cash, card or bank transfer.
The minimum driver age is 21. Drivers aged 21–24 pay a young-driver fee; from 25 there is no young-driver surcharge.
Famagusta car hire — frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to rent a car in Famagusta?
Daily rates are live, not flat year-round — they move with the season and with availability at booking time, so early booking and low season quote at or below the base tier while peak summer quotes higher. Every quoted price already includes VAT and third-party insurance, shown in EUR, GBP, USD and TRY with no conversion markup. Check the booking form for today's exact rate on your dates.
Do I need a deposit or a credit card to rent?
No. Kipra takes no deposit and does not require a credit card. You can pay by cash, card or bank transfer, and a valid driving licence plus your passport or ID is enough to rent.
Do you deliver the car to my hotel in Famagusta or Long Beach?
Yes — handover is free anywhere in Famagusta and across the Long Beach area of İskele, including hotels and apartments. Add the address on the booking form and we will meet you there.
Is the whole fleet automatic?
Yes. Every car in the fleet is automatic with air conditioning, which makes left-side driving in North Cyprus much easier for visitors used to right-side roads.
Can I drive a Famagusta rental car to the south of Cyprus?
No. A North Cyprus rental car cannot cross to the south under any circumstance — the insurance ends at the Green Line and regulations prohibit it, in both directions. If you need to drive in the south, you would arrange a separate southern rental for that leg; for the northern leg we can meet you at the Derinya or Famagusta crossing on foot.
