What is the minimum wage in North Cyprus in 2026?

The TRNC minimum wage since 1 July 2026 is 70,893 TL gross and 61,677 TL net a month, as reported by Haberkenti, GZT and Vatan following the Minimum Wage Commission’s decision. The rates by period:

Period Amount (TL) About (EUR)
Hourly 408.99 €7.33
Daily 3,271.98 €59
Weekly 16,359.92 €293
Monthly, gross 70,893 €1,270
Monthly, net 61,677 €1,105

The euro column uses the 30 October 2026 rate of 55.80 TL and is rounded; the hourly, daily and weekly conversions are our own arithmetic. The wage is set in lira, so the euro value moves with the exchange rate.

Two readings of the table, both our own arithmetic rather than official statements. The hourly, daily and weekly rates line up with the gross figure (a week multiplied by 52 and divided by 12 gives 70,893 TL), and are consistent with an 8-hour day and a 5-day week. The gap between gross and net is 9,216 TL; the sources used here do not itemise it.

How has the North Cyprus minimum wage changed over time?

The TRNC gross minimum wage rose from 3,440 TL in 2020 to 70,893 TL in July 2026, according to the history compiled by Karekod. The commission has set a new rate twice a year since 2022:

In force from Gross (TL) Net (TL)
2020 3,440 2,958
2021 4,324 3,769
January 2022 7,000 6,090
July 2022 9,885 8,600
January 2023 11,800 10,300
July 2023 15,750 13,869
January 2024 24,000 20,002
July 2024 35,180 30,222
January 2025 43,469 37,818
July 2025 51,202 44,546
January 2026 60,618 52,738
July 2026 70,893 61,677

These are lira amounts, not adjusted for inflation or for the lira’s exchange rate, so the growth in the table does not read across to euros or pounds. The January 2026 increase was 18.39%, and the July 2026 increase 16.95%.

Who decides the TRNC minimum wage, and when is the next decision?

The TRNC Minimum Wage Commission sets the rate, and the next decision is expected around January 2027 because the commission has decided in January and July every year since 2022. That date is an expectation from the pattern, not an announcement.

The two 2026 decisions followed different paths:

  • July 2026: set at the commission’s third meeting. According to Kıbrıs Postası, the rate was set on 16 July 2026 and is valid from 1 July 2026; a 10-day legal objection period ended with no union objection, and it took effect with Council of Ministers approval. Minister Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu said the 16.95% was based on the six-month cost-of-living rate of the same size paid to public employees.
  • January 2026: net 52,738 TL and gross 60,618 TL, decided by majority vote at the 9 January meeting, with the union side objecting.

Official confirmation of any new rate lives with the TRNC Ministry of Labour and the Official Gazette.

How does the TRNC minimum wage compare with Türkiye?

The TRNC net minimum wage is 2.2 times Türkiye’s, according to Yeni Çağ: 61,677 TL against 28,075 TL in Türkiye.

2026 monthly minimum wage Gross (TL) Net (TL)
TRNC, since 1 July 2026 70,893 61,677
Türkiye, throughout 2026 33,030 28,075

Both are in the same currency, which makes the lira comparison direct. It does not adjust for prices in either place, and the TRNC figure is the rate for the second half of 2026.

How does the North Cyprus minimum wage read against living costs?

The North Cyprus minimum wage is best read next to an itemised budget rather than on its own, so this page leaves the living-cost numbers to the monthly cost of living in North Cyprus guide, which lists rent, electricity, internet and groceries. One structural point from that guide matters here: the wage is set in lira while rent is mostly quoted in hard currency, so the same lira figure can sit differently against rent from one month to the next.

Transport is one more line in that picture. Kipra Rent A Car, which compiled this page, is a Famagusta-based local rental company with VAT and third-party insurance included in every displayed price; its monthly tier is on the long-term car rental in North Cyprus page, and the long-term versus short-term rental comparison sets out when each applies.

Where else does the TRNC minimum wage figure matter?

The TRNC minimum wage also appears to anchor other amounts, and the clearest example is traffic fines. Kıbrıs Gazetesi reported that fines were updated after the wage was published in the Official Gazette, and by our own arithmetic the 2026 traffic fines in North Cyprus equal round percentages of the 70,893 TL gross wage. We found no official source stating those percentages.

For people relocating, the wage is one data point within a wider process: the TRNC work permit framework describes how employment of foreign workers is structured, and the moving to North Cyprus roadmap covers the residence side.

This page is informational and reflects the position as of November 2026. The minimum wage is revised periodically: confirm the current figure with the TRNC Ministry of Labour or the Official Gazette.
