Long Beach is the new-build and holiday strip of about 25 km on the İskele coast of North Cyprus, 23.1 km and about 30 minutes up the coast road from Famagusta. Entry is free on the public sections, and going in the sea costs nothing. The name causes some confusion: the strip is the sand, the towers and the promenade, while the town of İskele sits behind it. This page covers where it is, what is on it, the sea by month, the water tests and how to get there.

Where is Long Beach in North Cyprus?

Long Beach is on the east coast of North Cyprus, in the İskele district, north of Famagusta along the coast road. These are the arrival distances, as of 2026:

From To Long Beach
Famagusta 23.1 km, about 30 min
Deryneia Crosspoint About 25-30 min
Ercan Airport 40-50 min

Further up the same coast, Boğaz harbour is 25.1 km from Famagusta and the Bafra resort strip 42 km, so Long Beach sits on the way to both. The two are compared in the Boğaz harbour and Bafra strip page. For the place behind the sand, where residents shop and eat, read the İskele town guide.

What is on Long Beach?

Long Beach has a walking and cycling path, a children’s park and a line of businesses along the sand, with sunbeds rented at those businesses. In summer it is also where the east coast’s motorised activity runs: jet ski, parasailing and banana rides, roughly May to October, listed in the water sports at Long Beach page. Evenings are built around beach clubs and bars, which the Famagusta and Long Beach nightlife page times out.

The strip itself, with its hotels and entrances, is walked through in our local’s guide to Long Beach İskele. If you are choosing where to stay, the hotel prices in North Cyprus and the apartment rents in Famagusta and İskele have the numbers. Whether this is the right beach for you is a different question, and the honest ranking of North Cyprus beaches answers it by type of day.

Is Long Beach free to use?

Yes, Long Beach is free to enter on its public sections, and going in the sea is free too. What costs money is what you rent or buy from the businesses, sunbeds above all. Each business sets its own tariff, so this page quotes no sunbed price: ask before you sit down. The path and the children’s park are part of the free public side.

When can you swim at Long Beach, and how warm is the sea?

The swimming season at Long Beach runs May to October, with the sea averaging 20.9°C in May and 28.3°C in August. These are long-term averages for the Famagusta and İskele coast from our open climate dataset (as of November 2026), not readings for a particular day:

Month Average sea temperature
May 20.9°C
June 24.4°C
July 27.2°C
August 28.3°C
September 27.5°C
October 25.5°C
November 22.4°C

The figure that surprises people is November: at 22.4°C the sea is warmer than in May. The annual low is 16.8°C in February. The month-by-month air temperatures and rainfall are in the North Cyprus climate and sea temperature data.

Is the water at Long Beach clean?

Yes, the water at Long Beach tested clean in the latest published rounds: according to the TRNC Ministry of Health’s monthly sheets, Long Beach read 0/0 on both indicators (E. coli and intestinal enterococci) in each round from June to September 2026. Testing runs monthly through the May to October season. Two limits on that answer: the TRNC publishes per-district sheets rather than one annual report like the EU’s, and a test describes the day of the sample. What the tests cover, and how the other beaches read, is in the North Cyprus beach water quality analysis.

How do you get to Long Beach with or without a car?

By car, Long Beach is about 30 minutes from Famagusta on the coast road; without one, it is the İskele to Famagusta bus or a taxi.

Way to get there Time Cost, with date
Car from Famagusta About 30 min Rental plus fuel, no mileage limit
İskele to Famagusta bus 35-40 min 200 TL cash (Sep 2026)
Taxi from Famagusta, day meter About 30 min About 1,105 TL (meter calculation, 2026)
Taxi from Famagusta, night meter About 30 min About 1,321 TL (meter calculation, 2026)
Taxi from Ercan Airport 40-50 min About 3,000 TL (Nov 2026)

The İskele to Famagusta bus runs 6 times a day on weekdays and 4 on Saturdays, with no Sunday service. Check with the operator which stop is nearest your hotel, because we could not confirm one for each stretch of the strip. Locally, the İskele city bus leaves Caesar Resort B Gate eight times between 09:00 and 18:00, Monday to Saturday, for 75 TL, AdaKart only (September 2026). There is no Uber or Bolt, and the routes, fares and payment rules are in the bus timetable and fares for North Cyprus.

Kipra Rent A Car is a Famagusta-based local rental company with VAT and third-party insurance included in every displayed price. Delivery to Long Beach hotels is free, as the free hotel car delivery page explains, and a car handed over at Ercan through the Ercan Airport car rental service carries a €56/way transfer fee, as of 2026. Can you combine Long Beach with Salamis in one day?

Yes, Long Beach and Salamis combine well in one day if Salamis comes first: Salamis is 8 km north of Famagusta and has little shade, so go when it opens at 08:00 (summer 2026 list, 150 TL) and allow at least 2 hours. Winter hours are shorter, so check at the gate. Carry on up the coast to Long Beach for lunch and the afternoon on the sand, then stay for the promenade in the evening.

The Famagusta stops that fit around this day are in things to do in Famagusta, with fees and hours for each. If you are basing yourself here for longer, İskele’s archaeology museum is 100 TL on the summer 2026 list, 08:00-15:30, closed on weekends and holidays.
